Apart from a lot of hot fiery stuff- in Yoga Ayurveda Living we haven’t really touched on pittas vast and delicate important work in the body- delicate..yes...a fire can be flighty, it can be volatile and it keeps burning bright depending on its source of food

I know i have tended to keep vata highlighted, for Ayurvedic Yoga health and if you are new here and sort of new to ayurveda...well as cute as i am, it could help you better to dip in and out starting at the beginning of series one

But this is a great episode too of course...says she, Kelly Marie Mills,  started to get really tangled up in a ‘don't over explain everything’ thing!

This episode like the last, is covering what are called the forms of each dosha -

Like how they arrive and most importantly how they interact and show up - helping us to identify the owner of the health and or imbalance of that body part -

And why is that great?

Well then we can offer counter actions, remedies or anti dotes ..well we give it the medicine it needs -

And as ever the main rule for Ayurveda medicine and Ayurveda  wellness with Kelly Marie Mills,  is - like increases like and opposites reduce -

We have the pitta dosha, like vata the name is just an umbrella for what is working hard for and don’t forget it has its own innate intelligence too..that is pitta has five parts to its make up —-

We start with the pitta of the mind Sadhaka - this is the dosha that gives us our clarity or our ability to realise the truth of the moment - it has an inward movement, Yano cause its about perception and we in effect eat what we learn - adn so we need the capability to do that - and just as pitta helps us with correct balance of digestion - it also helps us understand to the best of our ability  t & c’s apply the term is if you have ama in the mind, and the condition stands that then your perception is going to be tilted

But also it gives us the know how to complete and  accomplish projects because of this clarity

Since it is pitta of the mind, it is the digestive power of our minds function - so it pretty important - a pitta type person is very hung ho, can be full on and really super direct, not time for the shillying or shallying -and that's why with all the clear balanced vision, they are natural leaders - meditation for pitta types helps to rebalance the fiery intensity they hold so well - one for pitta is a gentle revolving repetitive phrase…

And Metta is the best for all doshas,  sharing it out to others…  bringing it back to ourselves

Did you know that our eyesight is a direct line to our pitta dosha - so if you have green eyes, you could have a good old dollop of pitta in your prakriti or your natural constitution…

When we see...and it is different shades of light we really see for the pitta dosha...we need to be able to digest this huge dump of sensory information without getting overloaded...and when i think of all the things i see everyday - it's a lot of food to digest in one sitting ! And it does it all! Our it’s sees thru the center of the pupil, and it's an upward motion - just like us seeking light front heavens or clarity

Eye problems? Yah we can go seek pitta balancing remedies to help with this - such as a simple one after a long day on the computer - a clean tissues, spray with organic rose water, place on your eyes, rest back - dream of water on a cold day at a lake -

We all know about pachaka pitta although you may not know you know - just cause it was named first, it might grace you as surprise, but pachaka sets the tone for the other four pittas

And any Ayurveda consultation should be considering exactly pachaka pitta first and foremost and seeing the effect of this pitta in our life body work balance - this pitta is about balancing and can be remedied by using the breath for samana vayu - remember all the Ayurveda vayus of vata, effect every part of our being -

And if you have any heated indigestion and this mainly happens in the small intestine- then you know pitta imbalance - and that mean pachaka pitta is cracking the whip in your digestive power -

And if you are one of those types that know their internal thermostat is a little bit off kilter - sometime working, mainly not..so when we get hot, we can't cool down and when we get cold it takes four hot water bottles a hot drink and six blankets to get warm -

Yah pitta is our thermostat and also helps to keep our power of circulation on the balanced side

And any heated digestion show pitta is high and in excess in the body, and any problems with body heat and stabilisation of it, is showing as low agni, or digestive power -

Pachaka Pitta creates the refinement of food and nutrient in our digestive process -so if it is running a little low, then our nutrient intake is vitiated...and as well as that - we begin to lose our vibrancy

Just a little moment here to thank all of you for listening to me relay and try to bring forward in a clear and pitta precise way, how applicable Ayurveda is for daily life - since you are still here, maybe there is an episode you want to share with a friend, or to your social media?  Or maybe you feel inspired to rate and write a review on apple podcast...but most of all it's nice to get comments and like on on instagrams - but here is where the raffle will begin for a full Ayurvedic treatment - coming soon so get your friends to keep an ear out too

Not only all those three parts of pitta, we have two more that are impossible to not remember

Our skin is the big envelope that holds us together and everyone knows it's a big as ..how many football fields..or is it soccer fields? And plus it's the largest organ of our body - it sort of pretty important, but it does tend to get a bit of a bashing when pitta gets out of sync for whatever reason.

Skin is another part of pitta..actually it's more like where it lives, yep the doshas don't do small accommodations - they like the castles of the body! at leAST that starts until you get to the breath, the mind, discernment….and then it gets real small.

Bhrajaka pitta is located in the skin, it is how our skin has its lustrous complexion or its poor pale qualities and the various thousands of options in between!

So when pitta gets aggravated by hot chili in food, or too many tomatoes a 36 days in a row, its the skin that could end up becoming the nearest escape route for pitta to cool down...or calm down -Bhrajaka pitta help us digest the atmospheric heat, warmth sunlight all that we absorb through the skin this does it. We get our inner glow radiating outward from this pitta, so it’s pretty important, if we only held our light within, we would get to hot, so we need to also feel it is a part of our full functioning to radiate our energy our light our sattva outward

It's a part of the circulation process too ...well you know if it's  a family affair here! And when our heat is being dispersed and can't rebalance quick enough we sweat to help cool down ..

The last of our five pittas is hardly the least- Ranjaka pitta is the agni, the fire that gives colour- its located in the  big guns of our digestion and blood..the liver, spelled, stomach, small intestine and it give colour to all activities of our bodily functions..you know what I mean…

But particular to those with cold extremities it is the ranjaka pitta that is finding it hard to keep up with your balance, as one of its main functions (like there aren’t enough already,) is to be the warmth in our blood and therefore our circulatory system. To help rectify any problem with ranjaka we need to look at our digestion and see how we can help the deficient function of the body.

Face the fact here - that any problems we have in our digestion are generally the root cause of whatever imbalance is occurring now

Even working with them forty years later is better than not working with them at all

Now...to begin start talking about why you eat what you eat, and then peel it all back to bare food...bare rice, bare potatoes, bare pasta

No sauces, no seasoning except maybe turmeric, cumin, fennel and a little bit of oil everyday ….reducing butter as much as you can and using good quality oil as a good start to helping your digestion chug chug chug away...

And try that for a day or two or even three, and that is plenty, unless you have guidance and support…

That's our pitta for today, and there is still more to love about The Dosha Life Podcast with Kelly Marie Mills and Yoga Ayurveda Living, not least our upcoming Yoga Teacher Training instilled with Ayurveda Wellness, in Clarenbridge, Co. Galway, Ireland

I look forward to chatting to you in the next episode!
