Show Notes Transcript

Perception is tricky! If something is not working for you, if you keep doing the same thing and still want change, you still want a different result and you find ….this is just not working, why doesn’t this ever work....then this is your Karma. You have made this, so it means you can unmake it too!
Thats a relief!

Perception. To perceive is to understand according to your own past experience, but to also accept the pressures of our will to be who we are right now, or our desire to change and or sustain what we would like to become or are becoming.

I have to say honestly, change of any sorts? its never easy. It is especially not easy when it comes to the heart- whether it be a broken heart, or a heart that see change as necessary, the heart feels for us.

The second part, is what most of us understand….to change for the sake of what we want to become. Wiser, happier, healthier ….maybe more silence in the mind? Or a sense of peace? That is something I had hoped for, for many years. It is probably one of the strong reasons I began learning Yoga practices...and my perception of Yoga was more or less, zilch except for my past experience of the small amounts of meditation in my youth in Japan and some of what I learned when we lived in Hawaii….although it was limited i think somewhere it did slide into a little tiny crevice in my mind and lurk waiting to have space to grow a bit more —you want yoga, yes you do! You want yoga ..aha,,,,she teaches Yoga...you are doing yoga now!

What yoga and Ayurveda offer us is gifts to help sustain a fully rounded sitting point from which to view experiences. So that our past experience will always be that, and we can sit with knowing that I didn’t like that person for one reason or many, but that years later, I have changed, I have hopefully become less attached to all of my pain and hurt or and more importantly - our dislike or aversion to someone can be from not liking what they represent to us - that we could not see their behaviour in any way but the wrong way to be - ofcourse i am not referring to the extremes of behaviours but in fairness that does have similar course of perception and healing.

So how do we help aid our karma curve? Karma is a minx, it is it is! And it keeps coming back around until we have learned how to navigate it to change the result we receive from that pattern, that conditioning, that behaviour. If something is not working for you, if you keep doing the same thing and still want change, you still want a different result and you find ….this is just not working, why doesn’t this ever work, why is my life so hard….. why cant i have this petrol car and put diesel into it?

Why cant i eat this or that and still not get some digestive imbalance ?

If something isnt working and you have probably over the course of a year or more, tried and tried, and for some of us we tried for several years, still saying yes, when we wanna say no, still over working and still exhausted still feeling like we are foundering still a want to fit better in my clothes but hey what’s one piece of apple crumble going to do?

Its a mind field people … mind field. And its your field….we need can help ourselves by working with our digestive power of our perception. Trust me, try this.

  1. Check your judgement how? By doing your best to stand back and. working out if what you are hearing or learning is the absolute whole truth or mixed with half truths or not truths
  2. Check out your own gut instinct. What does your gut tell you. If you are not in immediate danger and the sense to flee is urging you to make a decision…. bong!! Press the pause button and make no decision until you can sit with this situation and make a fully informed decision according to your own perception and past experience with a wild and happy dash of trust in your own gut and intuition.
  3. The trust in our growing wisdom helps with our developing discernment. Being able to work out if this is real or if this is another phase of change that is necessary cause change is necessary for us to also change and awaken to the beauty of life without fear and resistance.
  4. When we begin to build on trust, sitting enables us to sit when we are feeling harassed, more than likely from our own ego tell us we have much better things to be doing than this business of just sitting to see what new caller is coming Into my excited and dramatic mind ….here we can see and openness is growing. Opening to hold the drama, the angst the pain in your own mind field.
  5. When we understand the magnititude of equanimity, it could be very brief, it could last for a whole 365 sits, it could arrive for a moment of only one….balanced judgement comes ...because this is not a race. We are what our mind is.

In the end, if you seek change, it is come to the hard conclusion that you need to get your foot of the brake. Press the go pedal and let life flow through you, rather than living as you once did. Continue as you are, pressing yes I want change, taking off the brakes to turn to old karma paths that certainly would make us all waking up say say….this again?

Now for me, I head to batch bake for the week, my almond cookies from kate O’Donnell’s book have been a life saver on my path of reduced sugar… i do recommend her book. Its super.
